Welcome to our Seashore Sensations Discover Primary Science Project!

Seashore Sensations is a hands-on, cross-curricular project for school school children in the Primary School Science Curriculum. Created in partnership with the "Discover Science and Engineering programme", Seashore Sensations contains everything needed for school children to develop the knowledge and skills laid out in the Primary Science Curriculum for both Science and Geography.

The project is presented by our trained, expert staff and is specially designed to be a mixture of learning discovery and fun.The project focuses on the animals and habitats found in Galway Bay, using these native riches as the basis around which all aspects of the Primary Science Curriculum are covered.

Pupils will take part in an interactive tour of the aquarium, attend a lecture on Galway Bay and it's habitats and inhabitants, run their own special Discovery Laboratory and then complete our worksheet- designed to reinforce their newly acquired skills and knowledge. Each school that participares will receive a credit towards it's "Award of Excellence" for their visit.

Seashore Sensations directly addresses the following madatory curriculum threads - Science, Living Things, Energy and Forces, Materials, Environmental, Awareness and Care, Geography and Natural Environments.

We can also outline and advise on a number of DPS activites and experiments that can be undertaken back in the classroom.

We offer free advice and support through our website and email for all classes that take part in Seashore Sensations, so pupils can maximise their learning long after the trip to Atlantaquaria is finished.

This project can be undertaken as part of Discover Science and Engineering's "Award of Excellence" programme, or as a self-contained project for any class working on the Primary Science Curriculum.
