Bjorn
the Polar Bear returning to Galway Atlantaquaria as part of World Ocean Day
Celebrations
Bjorn
the Polar Bear will be making a return trip to the aquarium on Sunday May 30th
when the Marine Institute together with Galway Atlantaquaria join forces to
celebrate World Ocean Day. An incredibly realistic life-size adult male Polar
Bear, Bjorn is playful and mischievous but huggable too. Bjorn travels with his
keeper and Arctic Explorer, Ursula. Demonstrations and exhibits will
also feature other Irish partners including the Western Regional Fisheries
Board, the Environmental Change Institute, and DERI NUI Galway. Liam Twomey director of Galway Atlantaquaria says”This is our forth year celebrating World Ocean Day, the seas are as important to us as it’s the air we breath. The aquarium endeavours to get the message of the sea to the community in a subtle and user friendly manner. Bjorn our Bear has trekked across two continents to be with us again is looking forward to a "not too warm" Galway welcome...well you can't please everybody. See you on Sunday May 30th come early ..bears do not like to be kept waiting for their food!” For more information visit www.nationalaquarium.ie or phone 091 585100. |
