Me At Work

After attaining a degree in Marine Zoology, at the University College of North Wales, I worked as a diving and aquarium technician. Later I became a self-employed aquarium design consultant (and specialist fit out contractor), involved in the construction of 12 public and commercial aquaria over 30 years.

I was asked by Project Leader Liam Twomey to head the exhibition design, installation of the life support systems and creation of themed exhibits at Atlantaquaria. I worked closely with Mark Vollers, owner of the Lake District Coast Aquarium, and fellow company director of H2O Zones Ltd. My work at Atlantaquaria now consists mainly of designing and implementing new exhibits and routine maintenance.

My Spare Time

I have spent 12 years restoring and converting a Tudor barn into a house. This is the third property renovation I have done. I enjoy cinema, drinking with friends, travelling and I have a passion for SCUBA diving and underwater videography. Although I have travelled widely, I enjoy locally the country lanes and bays of the Celtic Atlantic margin “in me Hi-ace Van.”

Although I work and even live much of the time in Atlantaquaria, I am still constructing a coral reef tank in my lounge and an Olympic size fish pond in my garden.

My Favourite Sea Creature

Mullet - because they don't die in captivity! They also love to share my breakfast roll.

Fishy Joke:

What is yellow and dangerous? Shark infested custard.
