| What is your first memory of the sea?
Going for swimming lessons at the age of 3 or 4, which were run by the Water Safety Council at the pier on Sherkin. The water was so cold I think I cried for the whole lesson! |

Why is that area of nature so important to you? The sea is all around us…did you know that over 70% of the world is covered in oceans…and it is fascinating to think of all the creatures that are hidden in its depths. The sea gives us food, enjoyment, a means to travel plus so much more, so I think it is really important that we look after it. For me, it has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember; I travelled across it, swam in it and studied it so it is has always been special to me. |

What messages about our oceans and marine life would you like to get accross to the children of today? The sea is the greatest thing we have; it holds many great secrets, stories and treasures…and I don’t mean of the ’treasure chest’ kind, but the many fish and creatures that live there! Always respect the sea and the creatures that live in it. It is their home after all! |

| What is it about Sherkin Island that makes it so special?
Sherkin is unique. It is a place to chill out and leave the rest of the world behind. It’s beautiful, even on the wettest and windiest day of the year and it has also been my home since the day I was born so it holds a very special place in my heart! |

| If you could change one thing about the way humans use the oceans, what would it be?
I hate that the oceans are often used as dumping grounds for rubbish, so if I had a magic wand I’d clean up all the seas and teach people to look after it better. |
||
| Can you tell us a fishy joke?!
Why are dolphins cleverer than humans? Within 3 hours they can train a man to stand at the side of a pool and feed them fish! |
