What is your first memory of the sea?

Seeing my first Frogman (Scubadiver) when I was three yers old. I knew then I wanted to dive!

Why is that area of nature so important to you?

We know more about space than the oceans. If we respect the oceans then we will be well underway to understanding the fragility of life and the need to care for it.

What messages about our oceans and marine life would you like to get accross to the children of today?

Enjoy this amzing free resource, look after the animals and plants beacuse you will be the ones taking care of it when we can't.

What incouraged you to become involved with the Atlantaquaria?

A shred passion for the education of all ages in a very little understood area of Irish life. I believe that the Atlantaquaria continues to lead the way in marine education in Ireland.

In your honest opinion, what do you think is the future for our Lakes, Rivers and Oceans?

The pace of scientific research does not match the exploitationof our water resources for commercial purposes. The Government tied with Industry are not focused enough on renewable resources. Although public awareness is increasing, they are largely ignored when it comes to conservation. Perhaps greed is finally being outstripped by concern - I believe with European pressure Ireland will be forced to change their standpoint. If this is the case then I see a bright future!

Can you tell us a really good fishy joke?

An Irish man, sitting at the end of a pier fishing, is approached by an American. The American asks him: "What are you fishing for Sonny?". The Irishman replied: "A whale". "Jeepers!" retorted the American, "Ya mean, ya get whales here?".
"Oh God no," replied the Irishman, "Didn't I cycle my bike over the edge of the pier last night and lost the whale!".
